The nGEL Innovators: Geolorn Ireland Limited

The nGEL project is a collaborative journey towards a more sustainable energy future. Welcome to "The nGEL Innovators", a series dedicated to introducing the key partners of the project. In today’s episode, we are presenting to you Geolorn Ireland Limited, the Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation leader of the nGEL project.

Geolorn Ltd (GEO) is an Irish project management and technology services firm focused on geothermal resource exploration and exploitation since 2010. GEO integrates cutting-edge technology and professional staff to improve project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to best practices in geothermal drilling operations. The company also collaborates with other industry experts on new technical proposals and proofs of concept for deep geothermal drilling. With extensive practical experience in key areas such as deep resources (energy and minerals), geotechnical work, and hydrogeology, GEO offers services that significantly contribute to the successful outcomes of projects.

Role in the nGEL Project:

Leveraging the expertise and specialisation, particularly in exploitation, Geolorn Ireland is leading the Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation of the nGEL project. In this work package, they will develop a detailed  Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) strategy that will take all background IPR owned by the consortium partners into consideration to ensure effective exploitation and investigate several suitable methods to protect different project results and apply for patents, design rights or copyright as and when appropriate.

Geolorn will also review the initial findings of barriers for the post-project exploitation of the project and the wider adoption of the proposed technology concept, along with developing a suit of recommendations based on the identified barriers and initial strategies to bridge the relevant policy and regulatory gaps.
