The nGEL and the REGEN-BY-2 project jointly conducted an online workshop, “Innovative renewable multi-generation solutions for a decarbonised Europe”, on 10 October, 2025, in the Sustainable Places 2025 (SP25). Collaboratively arranged by Research to Market Solutions and Comune di Milano, the conference was held in Milano, Italy, from 8 to 10 October, 2025. The attendees had an insightful discussion on both the projects and how their solutions are playing roles in decarbonising Europe.
Moderated by Laura María Pérez Caballero, C&D Manager of the REGEN-BY-2 project, the workshop was convened with the presentations on REGEN-BY-2. Stefano Briola (TIFEO) provided an overview of the project.Nicolas Leclercq (University of Liège) discussed the two-phase machines developed within the project. And Michael Strobel(Dr. Jakob energy research GmbH & Co. KG) talked about the use cases and potential user groups of the project.

In the following stage, representatives from nGEL consortium,Shahin Jamali, Head of Monitoring and AI at Fraunhofer IEG, and coordinator of the project, presented an overview of the nGEL project to the audience; Feride İrem Eren, R&D Specialist at Zorlu Enerji, discussed the demonstration activities at Zorlu’s plant; and lastly, Kevin Mallin, Director at Geolorn Ltd, talked about the nGEL approach to enhancing efficiencies of the renewable energy sector.
The participants had an opportunity to ask questions to get more insights about the projects. As the industry leaders, policymakers, media and other stakeholders attended the event, the workshop was transformed into a collaborative dialogue on accelerating their deployment across Europe.
