In collaboration with the Comune di Milano, Research to Market Solutions is arranging the Sustainable Places 2025 (SP25) in Milan, Italy, from 8 to 10 October 2025. Industry leaders, policymakers, media and other stakeholders of the real estate sector will attend the event. The well-designed, science-based sessions and workshops will connect research, policy, and market actors around urgent sustainability challenges.

The nGEL project will proudly conduct an online workshop, “Innovative renewable multi-generation solutions for a decarbonised Europe”, jointly with the REGEN-BY-2 project in the SP25. The experts from the projects will explore the next generation of renewable multi-generation technologies at the workshop through showcasing cutting-edge advancements in thermal energy conversion systems. The platform will also foster a collaborative dialogue on accelerating their deployment across Europe.

The workshop will begin with presentations from the project leaders of the REGEN-BY-2 and nGEL to showcase their core innovations, followed by a moderated panel discussion with all speakers. The panel members will explore multiple technical issues in the field of energy, including synergies, barriers to market entry, and future R&D priorities.

The nGEL project will present its technical approach to enhancing Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) efficiencies, its demonstration activities in real-world settings, and the multifaceted economic and societal dimensions of flexible renewable energy systems.

Presenters from the REGEN-BY-2 project will introduce the audience to the patented thermodynamic cycle and its benefits, with insights on design/off-design operations. They will discuss the design and performance of two-phase machines, supported by experimental data, and potential improvements to the lab-scale prototypes. Use cases and potential user groups for the REGEN-BY-2 trigeneration plant will also be covered in the presentation.
